Your Friendly Neighborhood......Crazy Lady!
Normally I like blog about topics that are in the news. This time I want to blog about my interest ting experiences last night.
My friend Mike bought a new car. Mike didn't have to work last night, so he called and asked if he could stop by and show me his new ride. I told him that would be great. When Mike arrived he rang my door bell, and I went downstairs to meet him. I hopped in his new car and we went for a ride.
After we went for a ride, we went back to my house. When we got to my street we realized that there was no where to park. I live on a dead end street. So Mike backed his car up to the end of the street (the dead end part). He then turned his car off. Mike and I sat there and were talking, as we hadn't seen each other in a while. We talked about his new car, how his kids are doing, my family, work, and so on and so forth.
We were parked at the end of my street for about 15 to 25 minutes, when both Mike and I noticed that my neighbor was flicking her porch light on and off. She did this several times. Mike and I were not sure what that meant. So we continued to talk.
About 5 minutes later 2 police cruisers pulled down my street and right in front of Mike's car. The police pointed their spot light on us and came over to the car. The Officer asked us what we were doing. Mike explained that he had purchased a new car and was showing it to his friend (me). The Officer asked if we lived around the area, and I told him that we were right in front of my house. The Officer then asked if we had any ID. So Mike and I handed over our Driver's Licenses.
The Officer called in our Id's to make sure we had no outstanding warrants or what not. At this point El poked her head out of our front door and asked the Officer what was going on. El explained that I was her husband. The Officer told her that the police had received a complaint that we were "sitting".
When the Officer returned to Mike's car (like 20 seconds later), I could hear him responding on his radio. He said "Roger that. Just a guy showing his buddy his new car. I don't know what the big deal is". The Officer then gave us back our ID and told us to have a good night.
The Officer was really cool to Mike and I. He seemed bothered by the fact that he had to respond because a couple of guys were being guys (showing off their new car to their buddy). I was happy that everything went as smooth as it did.
I have no idea what is wrong with my neighbor, or why she would call the police for something like that. Mike and I were not making any noise, his car was off, there were no headlights on, and it wasn't that late at night (8:30 / 9:00). For whatever reason she is not particularly happy with El and I.
All and all it was an interesting night. I have never had the police called on me before. It's kind of an interesting feeling. Knowing that you have done nothing wrong sort of empowers you.
By the way....Mikes new car rocks!
