Patriots fall just 1 win short.
The Super Bowl is over and the winner is not New England. Living in the Boston area, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Patriots were going to win. There was a lot of talk of how badly the Pats would be the Giants. People in and around Boston seemed to forget that New England only beat New York by 3 points the last time they met. Pats fans also seem to forget that the Pats were able to beat the Rams, when the Rams were "THE GREATEST SHOW ON TURF!"
After watching the game, I have to say that New York just played better. They did what I thought they would try to do. Run the ball and control the clock. The Giants had 338 yards of offense. Looking at that number one would think that the Pats D did pretty good. Truth is, the Pats D didn't play bad, but there were some missed opportunities to seal the game on defense.
As for the offense of the Pats, damn did they suck. They just couldn't get into the swing of things. The Giant's defense was able to get to Brady way to often. When Brady has time to throw, he is amazing. He didn't have time to throw, and the statistics show it. Only 274 yards of offense. That is absurd, especially considering that the Pats offense is the most prolific offense the NFL has ever seen.
I want to say again that the Giants deserved to win. They played better. They were able to put a game plan together that enabled them to win. Eli has really come of age. Archie must be proud. While most Pats fans are saying they missed out on history, I say no we didn't. The Jets beating the Colts, when Broadway Joe garunteed a win was history because it was a huge upset. Well same for this game. Not the history that New England wanted, but history just the same.
