Tag! Your It...Not in Attleboro

Tag! We all remember tag. What a great game. For those who don't remember let me refresh your memory. The game of tag starts with someone being "IT". Everyone else does one of two things. They run around and avoid the person who is "IT" or then stand at the safe zone to catch their breath. The person who is "IT" tries to "TAG" (by tapping someone) to make that person "IT" Pretty simple stuff.

The elementally school (incidentally, where most tag is played) in Attleboro, Ma has decided that tag is no longer to be play by children when at recess. Also on the hit list where Touch Football, and Dodgeball. Town and School officials say that all chasing games are by design dangerous, and can lead to inappropriate touching. Therefore the decision was made to nix these games from the playground.

When I went to school we played Tag, Touch Football, and Dodgeball a lot. Tag is specifically played a lot because it requires no equipment, just enough place to run around. Running around is what kids in elementary school should be doing. Society complains that our children are obese and that we need to do something about it. I have a really good solution. Stop taking away games like Tag and Touch Football, that encourage kids to run around and be kids!!!
