Free TV...

So I was looking around the net one day and I came across and article called "Cut your Cable bill in half". It caught my eye so I read it. Basically it said, lower your bill by dropping your cable package to basic. The article then went on to give a bunch of websites that one could watch TV shows on. So I checked out the sites. Here's what I found.

The first site I check out was www.hulu.com . I liked it. Hulu has a pretty good selection of new shows, as well as a good selection of older classics. I spent a good chuck of last night watching old Pink Panther cartoons. I also watched a bunch of the old show ALF.

I watched Hulu on my laptop via a wifi connection. It didn't take to long to que up the shows. The quality was pretty good. There are commercials during the show, just like TV, but instead of being 2 minutes long during each commercial break, they are only 30 to 60 seconds long. Overall I like Hulu and will continue to use it.

The other service I check out was www.joost.com . This service was just like hulu. It has a good selection, and works in a very similar way. There is some duplication in shows.

Both Hulu and Joost have a small selection of movies. I didn't watch and moives, but I would assume that it works similar to the way the TV show section works.

I have a spare room where I have connected my PC monitor to cable so that I can watch TV on it. I can augment that with these two services. I won't be cutting my cable anytime soon, but it's nice to know that I can if I choose.
