Google...The Next ISP

Google is looking to create a 1 gigabit per second internet connection. Google is looking to do this in a few select cities. The reason is, all of Google's innovations are based on speed. Currently no ISP is working to create faster broadband. The US ranks 18th in the world as far as average internet speed. 18th!!!! That's deplorable! Think about it. The country that was able to put a man on the Moon, created the internet, and the nuclearer bomb cannot download a HD movie as fast as someone in South Korea.

What I hope to happen from Google's experiment, is that the current ISP's will upgrade their networks. I doubt that I'll be able to hope on Google's new highspeed netowork, and it would be great if Google was able to add a little competition in the ISP game. Competition spurs growth. Growth is terribly needed in this case.
